When arriving in front of the hotel, our first impression from the outside was not overwhelming. But as soon as we pulled up in front of the main entrance, a very friendly doorman took care of our luggage and car with great efficiency. The renovated lobby with bar impressed us and we felt instantly at ease. We were greeted by a charming receptionist that took us through the pre booked (A-Club) formalities. The room (302) with river view fully met our expectations. Renovated comfortably and well equipped. Only the bed was not comfortable for us. The old town of Lyon is within walking distance of the hotel and under way there is a lot to see.We had cocktails in the bar, Le Melhor, on the 8th floor with magnificent views over the river Rhone.Breakfast was served in the restaurant also located on the 8th floor but now with views over the old town.Check out, luggage and car services were as efficient and friendly as upon check in.We had a very pleasant stay. When in Lyon, we will book here again.

the hotel is situated in a good position . Check in staff extremely courteous and helpful. Our room was on an unrenovated floor . The rooms need renovating particulary the bathrooms as the tiles were broken and the shower was not great.

We arrived at the hotel at 9:30am after a 31 hour flight from 'Australia with our luggage left behind at the last changeover in Munich. The hotel reception staff were fantastic, giving us immediate access to a room (normal check-in is 2:00pm) and finding toiletries and shaving equipment so we could freshen up. They also helped check on progress with delivery of our luggage from the airport later in the day. The hotel is very well located by the Rhone River and a block from La Place Bellecour, which is close to the centre of town, with several streets nearby dedicated to restaurants and great shopping. Breakfast on the top floor of the hotel was great, overlooking the city and river and with excellent service (although not cheap). Highly recommended!

I took advantage of an early bird booking and paid for two rooms with a request for adjoining rooms. Arrived at hotel and were informed that we would not be getting our adjoining rooms and that they had informed us of a necessary EU30 supplement per room if we decided on proceeding with this option. Having no option as we had three children, we agreed but were informed that one of the two adjoining rooms would only be ready at 3. Having never visited Lyon before did not fret as it accorded us the opportunity of walking through this amazing city. At 4pm having walked ourselves out of breath, we returned to the hotel, only to be informed that our room was not ready and we would need to continue to wait. Not pleased at that given we had to pay a supplement and also wait 3 hours. Without an option we proceeded to the single room with our three children to wait.So my gripe.....1) They should ensure if emails are sent to clients who have already paid, that this should be followed up by a phone call. 2) Housekeeping and front office need to communicate closer.Hotel was very good. Amenities and rooms were luxurious and location on the river. Front office staff in particular were very helpful.

I love staying in Sofitels. They have extremely comfortable beds in my opinion. They are also of the highest quality in terms of service, food and ambience. I have, however, one gripe about the hotel: I am an A Club Platinum cardholder as I stay frequently in hotels in the Accor group. As such, I am entitled to a room upgrade as well as a welcome drink. My room was not upgraded and this was not explained to me at check in and neither was an "additional amenity" provided, which is supposed to happen in the event that an upgrade is unavailable. Other than this, the hotel was excellent. We had lovely food and the bar has a great view over the city and some really great cocktails. Although the building itself is not great to look at from the outside, inside it is well-decorated, spacious and inviting.
